You can watch Vietnamese movies online on major streaming services like Netflix, on Vietnamese platforms such as FPT Play, VieON and Galaxy Play, through digital rental stores, and on official studio YouTube channels. Which one has a given film depends on your country, so a search tool like JustWatch is the quickest way to check.

Start with a search tool

Before signing up for anything, use a streaming search site:

  • JustWatch lists which services carry a movie in your country, including subscriptions, rentals and free options.
  • Search both titles. Vietnamese films often have an English title that differs from the original.
  • Try without diacritics if the Vietnamese title doesn't match.

This saves you from subscribing to a service only to find the film isn't available where you live.

Major international streamers

Netflix carries Vietnamese films and series in many regions, and its catalog includes action, romance, comedy and horror. Use the Browse by Languages page to see everything in Vietnamese. Our guide to Vietnamese movies on Netflix walks through it.

Other large services carry Vietnamese titles occasionally, often as part of regional deals. Their catalogs change, so check with a search tool rather than assuming.

Vietnamese streaming platforms

Vietnam has its own streaming services with large libraries of Vietnamese films and shows. Names you will see include:

  • FPT Play
  • VieON
  • Galaxy Play

These services focus on the domestic market. Some content may be limited to viewers in Vietnam, and subtitles in English are not always available. If you're outside Vietnam, check whether the service works in your country and whether it offers English subtitles before paying.

YouTube

YouTube is a useful source, with a few caveats:

  • Official studio and distributor channels sometimes post full films, especially older ones.
  • Trailers and clips help you decide what to watch.
  • Rentals: YouTube's movie store may offer some titles to rent or buy.

Stick to official channels. Unofficial uploads are often low quality, may disappear suddenly and don't support the filmmakers.

Digital rental and purchase stores

Stores like Apple TV, Google TV and Amazon sometimes offer Vietnamese films for rent or purchase, especially titles with international distribution. Selection is smaller than on Vietnamese platforms, but these stores usually have English subtitles.

Libraries and film festivals

  • Public libraries in some countries offer streaming services with world cinema collections. Check what your library card includes.
  • Film festivals sometimes run online programs that include Vietnamese films, especially art-house titles.
  • Community screenings in cities with large Vietnamese communities can also be worth looking for.

New releases sometimes reach theaters abroad too, so check local cinema listings when a big Vietnamese release is in the news.

Choosing what to watch

If you don't have a title in mind yet:

Subtitles and language settings

  • Choose original audio when a dub is offered.
  • Check subtitle languages before starting; some platforms only offer Vietnamese subtitles.
  • Use Vietnamese subtitles if you're learning the language and want practice.

Remember that pronouns and wordplay rarely translate perfectly. If a subtitle feels flat, the Vietnamese may be doing more than the English shows.

Watching legally matters

Unauthorized streaming sites are common, but they often carry malware risks and poor quality, and they cut filmmakers out of the revenue. Vietnamese cinema is a growing industry, and paid views, rentals and official channel views help it keep making films.

Watching Vietnamese animation and Shorts

If you'd like something shorter, Vietnamese animation and comedy Shorts are easy to find on YouTube. Duma Meow, the Vietnamese 2D cartoon comedy about four cats, is on the channel Voiceover with jimwest405.

A simple checklist

  • Search the title on JustWatch.
  • Check your existing subscriptions first.
  • Confirm subtitles are available in your language.
  • Rent if needed rather than signing up for a new service for one film.

Before you subscribe to anything new, search the exact film on JustWatch; it often turns up on a service you already pay for.
